This is a fully online, self-paced course. This Kindergarten Reading course provides a foundation for formalized reading and writing instruction. Areas addressed include listening and speaking skills; phonemic awareness analysis, print awareness, grammar skills, vocabulary skills; literature comprehension; and writing readiness.
The goals of the reading program are to instill a love of reading within all students by introducing engaging texts and authors. Students also learn to discover the different purposes for reading by exploring sub-genres, using worksheets, hands-on projects, and art. State standards are adhered to in this course, and noted on the unit overviews.
This version of the course is designed for independent learning and is not teacher supported or graded. Parents have the ability to grade assignments, view answer keys, and provide feedback to their child. This course represents Semester 2 of 2 semesters.
We also offer this course as an Accredited Course that includes an official transcript and earned credit, or as an Accredited Course with Mentor Teacher, which adds a dedicated teacher who provides grading, feedback, and ongoing support to guide your student’s success.
