This fully online, self-paced Introduction to Music History course is designed for students with a foundational knowledge of music—whether through formal training or self-teaching—who want to deepen their understanding of musical structure, notation, and language while advancing their personal musicianship. The course covers fundamental music theory, including notation, rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and texture, and incorporates ear training, composition, and arranging. Students will analyze classical, popular, and jazz works in terms of harmony and form, and will have opportunities to explore their own musical preferences. (Semester 1 of 1)
This is our Accredited Course with Mentor Teacher Support, which includes an official transcript and earned credit. A dedicated teacher provides grading, feedback, and ongoing support to guide your student’s success.
Parents can still participate by reviewing assignments, viewing answer keys, and providing additional feedback to their child.
